Did you read my
home page wherein I said Jenny Lens is Jenny Stern? Guess better
make it "Sterno." This yellowed postcard is a treasured
invitation, hand-made by Exene. I can't wait to post dozens
of shots from this party. X and Black Randy made their debuts.
Oh, I missed X. Tomata asked if I wanted to go with him to the
liquor store and I'd never say no to him. I got a few shots
of Black Randy. John insisted I go outside and take shots of
them, but I kept saying no, everyone is too drunk, but he persisted.
I took the shots, made prints and he agreed they shouldn't pose
when drunk. Ha ha, can't wait to post those! I didn't drink,
cos otherwise I couldn't shoot all night.
But the real fun was
in the kitchen. An endless parade of early punks hanging out
and misbehaving. Pleasant and Kick Boy kept falling down drunk
in the kitchen by the staircase in the kitchen. Read about in
"Neutron Bomb." I took so many fun, fab shots! What
a great party. And the best part was the fact Farrah Faucet-Minor
was leaving town!! She lived with Steve Naive from Elvis Costello's
Attractions for many years in England. The minute she left,
her main flame, KK turned to Trudie and they've been together
ever since.

love Exene; John Doe and "To Jenny with Love, Billy Zoom"
and the ever present and wonderful Top Jimmy, RIP.

They signed the back of their flyer, which
they used for their set list: "Love 2 You -- Exene,"
John Doe and Top Jimmy.

John Doe wrote in an early X song book:
"12/21/79, 4 Jenny, it's been a long time since LA Jolla
-- etc but thanks for all the support. John Doe." Long
time? I shot at their La Jolla apartment spring/summer 1977,
only 2.5 years previously. 28 years later they are still my
fave band and see them whenever I can afford a ticket or someone
outside of the band puts me on the guest list. |

A great example of Exene's wonderful graphic talents. I love
"Year One." |

| I missed Gun Club?
Who knew Jeffrey Lee Pierce would become a legend and a documentary
would be made on that band?
I shot the Chiefs show, not them, but just
X. Check out the shot of John performing in front of their drums
on X, page 1. I missed so many great bands who opened for X
cos I preferred hanging out with them backstage. No regrets. |
