77-05 Mumps Wh Lance sitting
May, 1977 Whisky Backstage
Lance looking too seductive and what is
he doing with that bottle? Many of you know Lance Loud from
the first reality series, "An American Family."
I never saw it until the '80's, so I had no cultural reference
nor reverence for Lance as a celebrity. He was an extremely
handsome, talented, sexy and fun guy.
I enjoy being a girl, but I'd always say,
"Lance, I wish I were a guy so we'd have a fling!"
I couldn't bear to go to his memorial, but when I saw the
follow-up to that groundbreaking series, I realized I should
have gone. Did you know Lance was the first man to come out
publicly as a gay man on TV? A brave soul and dearly missed.

Danny Benair, Lance Loud,
Ian Ainsworth, Kristian Hoffman, Rob du Prey, Kevin Kiely, and
Paul Rutner.
Rosemarie and others appreciated
and knew the Quick. Um, I shot them hanging out but that's about
it. Not a big power pop fan, unless really funny, like the Mumps
and Dickies. |

Now it can be told. Pleasant had a serious
case of lust for Kevin. I kept hinting that he, ah, might not
be into her. I got the distinct feeling he was, ah, not into
pretty girls. He was a sweetie, and that didn't stop her. I
don't know for a fact if she convinced him to take a chance
on her or not. |

From Paul:
"I am still friends with Danny
[Benair from the Quick] and we speak often. He is coming to
Austin in March [2005]for SXSW and I am sure that we will see
each other. I love the picture of me with that fantastic green
sharkskin suit." |

The girls were nuts for Rob,
except for this gal. I only had eyes for Lance.

Lance and Jenny,
Whisky backstage
Ah, where to begin? Look
at his face, don't look at my fat ass. You gotta be me, without
vanity, to post a shot like that, but it's one of my faves.
I told you I loved to fool around with Lance. I was showing
him one of my gifts, offering to do to him what I was doing
to that piece of cloth. Look at his face, what an expression!
Although there's no shot, I
later gave one of the Whisky employees a blow job on that sofa.
He had just taken marquee letters down. I grabbed an "E,"
but always wished I could have grabbed my fave band's name,
X. |
